Where is your favorite place in your home to cross stitch? Do you have a craft/sewing room or just a comfy chair in the living room? I am in the heartbreaking process of having to retire my fav stitching chair. In this process I am also having to rearrange everything and I cannot get comfortable with it. Could you share some pics of your fav chair, rooms and set-up that is your stitching place in the home and you love it? I'm hoping to get some good ideas and I knew just the place to go to ask!! Thanks, Nicki
Nicki - My favourite place is in the living room with a high back chair and an ottoman. I pull the floor stand over my legs. I have a side table for some essentials like scissors and coffee or tea and telephone so I don't have too many disturbances.
Bea the colours in your living room are warm and rich. Very homey with your masterpieces right there with you Bea V.

Nicki, I am like you also in that I like to see pictures of people's stitching spots. I'm sorry right now I don't have a picture to show you because I also don't have a proper stitiching spot. I am looking for that perfect chair. My sofa doesn't have any arms so it's not appropriate (or comfy). I hope more people put their pics up here and I will too when I get mine sorted.

Well, i like to stay in my bedroom and sitting on my chair. Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul. --St. Augustine cross stitch kits
We had an orangery built but in winter it has become my sewing haven. I can leave my work where it is, just with a pillow case over it, and it doesn't get in anyone's way as there are plenty of other chairs. Come summer, I may have to tidy my work away as the room will be used more and this little corner gets the most sun and is popular with all the family.

Hello Fran. It's nice to meet you, and welcome to GK. Your stitching area looks nice and cozy. I have been searching for a better chair, and actually the one I saw yesterday looks just like yours. It was super comfortable! Your project looks lovely. I hope you stay around with us. Wendy

Now that i installed a 40 inch flat screen in my kitchen, and got some nice thick comfy seat cushions for my kitchen chairs, I like stitching at the kitchen table when it is a little chilly outside. Being the kitchen is nice and warm. If not there then on my couch in the recliner. The only thing i hate about it , is that i can not use my stitch frames. I have a really nice frame from K's b ut it is not wide enough to reach me comfortabley. Pam

Franacropan, Please tell me what is an orangery please? Pam
It's like a conservatory but with more brickwork so that it is more a part of the house and "solid", for want of a better description. Orangeries tend to have an atrium running under the glass roof which accomodates the lighting and the glass is a special climate control glass so that it doesn't get too hot or too cold and so is useable all year round. The glass roof doesn't show in this picture as I couldn't stand any further back because of the snow. Image: ../../e107_images/

My reply has vanished, I hope this doesn't end up a duplicate. Apologies if that is the case. An orangery is like a conservatory but with more brickwork so that it is a more solid part of the house. They generally have an atrium running under the glass roof to accomodate the lighting. The glass is a special climate control glass that stops the room getting too hot or too cold and thus it is uasable all year round. This photo does not show the roof as I could not stand far enough back because of the snow. Image: ../../e107_images/

Thanks to everyone who has replied! Great ideas and beautiful spots and rooms. I'm so glad I ask this question although at the time I thought it might be a silly one! I appreciate it very much and keep them coming!! Nicki
